Ordningspolisens Nationella Insatsstyrka
Sweden's ONI is a unit who's members are all active Law-Enforcement Officers. The members of ONI are normally members in the SWAT teams. of the City of Stockholm (The Capital Of Sweden). Half of the time they will serve in ONI; the rest of the time will be in various SWAT teams. ONI has 48 members divided into 5 groups:
-
* 2 Assault Groups
-
* 1 Intelligence/Liaison Group
-
* 1 Sniper Support Group
-
* 1 Command/Control Group
The assault groups are mainly armed with various HK MP5 models and Sig-Sauer P226s
for personal defense. The Sniper support group uses the PSG 90 7.62mm. Personal body armor is mostly from indigenous Swedish origin and have been battle proven in Bosnia.
ONI's tactical training is not different from other West-European Counter-Terrorist Teams. Most of their training exercise deal with urban hostage rescue. In addition to assaults, they have a negotiation team that attempts to first gain the captives release through peaceful means.
They are based in Stockholm and under the direct control of the Prime Minister, who directs them in matters of terrorist actions against Sweden. (This fact might be changed next year).
If armed response are used to free a hostage from the terrorists, it can only be ordered by the Prime Minister of Sweden or if the live of the hostage are in mortal danger. Transportation of ONI members is carried out by the Swedish Air Force, or by other branches of the Services.
